It’s important to note that there are numerous poisonous varieties of laurel trees, and the true bay laurel is the only suitable variety for cooking purposes. Additionally, it should not be confused with Indian bay leaves, which have a completely different flavour profile. Chef’s Choice Ground Bay leaves are characterised by a pleasant camphor-like aroma and a pungent taste. Just one or two dried bay leaves are enough to impart flavour to soups, stews, and casseroles.
